I'm on my way

Left Bagram yesterday. Still not in the states but sure as hell not in Afghanistan anymore. Should be home by the weekend. Can't wait to throw my arms around my family and give them a huge hug. This has been the longest 8 months of my life.

1154 - Lisa sent me a text message of an earthquake near Bagram, Afghanistan.

The News report:
ISLAMABAD (AP) -- A meteorology official says a strong earthquake has shaken large areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
There are no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the earthquake, which struck late Thursday.
The quake was centered in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush Mountains about 160 miles (250 kilometers north of Kabul.
The U.S. Geological Survey says its preliminary magnitude was 6.0, but Pakistani officials said it was 6.1.
It was felt in Pakistan’s northwest and in the capital, Islamabad, causing some buildings to shake.
Chaudhry Qamaruz Zaman, chief of Pakistan’s meteorological office, says the temblor struck about 125 miles (200 kilometers) underground in the quake-prone region, so it was unlikely to cause significant damage
1308 – It is still snowing. Have not shoveled today yet, but plan on doing so after movie or this evening.

Aurora, CO - 10/28/2009

Snow started last night. We got around 8-10 inches by the evening. They expect another 5-10 inches over night and an additional 2-4 during the day tomorrow. I already shoveled the walkway twice.

Bagram - 10/24/2009

Lisa informed me that Bagram Air Base received a rocket attack from insurgents. They are all fine, but always scary to hear about the rocket attacks.
